Why "Pelletaire™" Wood Pellet Aeration Systems?
During wood pellet storage, the first reaction is for the natural moisture in the wood pellet
to generate heat resulting in decomposition (dust) during storage. A second reaction during
wood pellet storage independent to moisture is oxidation. Unsaturated wood extractives react
with oxygen and give off heat. The rate of these reactions increase with increasing temperature
and lead to a rapid temperature rise exceeding the limit allowed to ship.
In both cases wood pellet aeration will cool the pile and also remove any
CO and VOC generated by both self-heating mechanisms.
Since shipping rules prevent loading pellets with temperatures exceeding
50 degree Celsius, costly rescheduling, additional
storage, and interruptions can occur.
